Smart Image Compressor

Oversized images are the single most common reason a web page feels slow. A photo straight from a phone camera easily weighs 4-6 MB, yet the very same picture, at the same visible quality, often fits into a few hundred kilobytes. Our Smart Image Compressor closes that gap: it re-encodes your pictures at a quality level you choose and typically cuts file size by 60-80% while the result still looks identical on screen.

Everything happens inside your own browser using the Canvas API — your photos are never uploaded, never queued on a server, and never stored anywhere. Drop in a whole batch at once, watch the before and after size for every file, then download them one by one or all together.

Supports: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, ICO, SVG

Quality: 70%

How to compress your images

  1. 1 Drag your images onto the drop zone, or click it to browse and select several files at once.
  2. 2 Move the quality slider: higher keeps more detail, lower produces a smaller file. 70% suits most photos.
  3. 3 Review the selected thumbnails, then press the compress button to process the whole batch.
  4. 4 Compare the original and the compressed size displayed next to each result.
  5. 5 Download the files individually, or use the download-all button to collect the entire batch.

Why use this compressor

Nothing is uploaded

Compression runs locally in your browser, so your photos never leave your device and no copy is ever kept.

You control the quality

A live slider from 10% to 95% lets you trade size against detail until the result is exactly what you need.

Batch processing

Compress dozens of images in a single pass and download them all with one click.

Common use cases

  • Speeding up a website or blog by shrinking hero images and thumbnails before uploading them.
  • Getting photos under the size limit of an email attachment or an online application form.
  • Preparing product pictures for an online store so pages stay fast on mobile data.
  • Reducing screenshots and diagrams before adding them to a report or a presentation.
  • Freeing up storage space by re-encoding a folder of holiday photos.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing damage my image?

At the default 70% quality most people cannot tell the difference on screen. Lowering the slider a long way will eventually show softness or blocky areas, so preview the result before you keep it.

Which formats are supported?

Common web image formats including JPG, PNG and WebP. Each file is re-encoded using the quality level you select.

Is there a file size or file count limit?

There is no server limit, because nothing is uploaded. The practical ceiling is your own device memory — very large batches simply take a little longer.

Are my photos stored anywhere?

No. Images are processed in memory inside your browser and disappear the moment you close or refresh the page.
